Claudia Goodell

An Arizona Fine Artist

Born in Waterbury, Connecticut Claudia was creative as a child, often writing poetry and drawing, and dreamed of someday being a Disney animator. Claudia rediscovered her love for art and found her passion for oil painting after being diagnosed with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis Chronic Fatigue (ME/CFS) and Fibromyalgia in 2005. Having previously worked as an audiologist and later in pharmaceuticals, chronic illness forced her to abandon her career to stay home and rest. What she didn't know was that a new opportunity was blooming. During this challenging period of change she was encouraged by her son-in-law, a very talented artist, to 'just paint', but shortly thereafter he was lost to suicide. Having inherited a lot of his art and the contents of his studio, his influence is present in her work. She is encouraged by her husband, other family members, and her art mentors, and she find inspiration in people, music, science fiction, nature and color. 

Claudia is primarily self-taught, with limited formal training from a community college. Based on Curvismo ©, developed by Ricardo, Chavez-Mendez, she recently discovered a new sense of liberation in her creativity, and emerging from this is her new style. This process has enriched her developmental process greatly. Art is Claudia's new focus, and so she 'just paints'. Her pieces have been shown in exhibits in several states including New York, New Mexico and Arizona.
