"Rose"

Oil on canvas - 20" X 20"

This piece won the Patron's Award in the State Flower contest at www.esbq.com

This was interesting to work on because this canvas has been painted on about 4 or 5 times, so it has lots of texture and undertones.

Also, for those of you who didn't know me back when, my maiden name was Rose

Thanks to Teng Tan for belated permission to use the original photo "Rose Close at Heart" http://www.flickr.com/photos/tengtan/ as a reference for this piece.

Didn't know your maiden name was Rose. Now I do. :)

I like the texture in the painting. I can "feel" the petals just by looking at them (I am SO not an art critic).

Hey - Thanks for the good words. Your comment was nice to wake up to. It's medicine, just like a good cup of coffee. Yeah, critiquing art is a little like wine tasting, but when you look at it you think you can feel the texture of the petal-that's perfect.
